Squares and Fountains of Rome
The Spanish Square is named after the Palace, seat of the first European Embassy established in the city permanently, and the famous flight of steps.
Walking around the most elegant shopping streets in Rome, and passing the ancient column of Marcus Aurelius, whose reliefs tell the episodes of the famous battle set in the movie “Gladiator”, we reach Navona Square, the most Baroque of the Roman squares, masterpiece by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, with the fountain of the four Rivers.
In Piazza della Rotonda, you find the best preserved monument of antiquity, the Pantheon, dating back to the II cent a.d..
While walking in this unique environment of great architectural and artistic beauty deeply rooted in the heart of the ancient city, you reach Castel Sant’Angelo.
Castel Sant’Angelo or Hadrian’s Mausoleum was first transformed into a fortress, than in a prison and finally became the residence for the Popes. Castel Sant’Angelo also offers the best view of Rome at 360° and it is on this famous terrace that your guide will end the tour. You can wander around at your leisure, and savour this unique ambience where you can absorb history through the very air.
