Activities

If you wish to visit San Giovanni Rotondo from Rome in one day, we recommend our itinerary by train. Departure from Rome Termini station for Foggia. The journey takes about 3 hours. Once you arrive in Foggia, the driver of your private taxi will wait for you at the station to take you to San Giovanni Rotondo in about 40 minutes.

Meeting with the guide upon your arrival in San Giovanni Rotondo, to visit the sanctuary of Padre Pio, the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the convent of the Capuchins and the museum dedicated to the life of the saint.

After the visit you will have free time in San Giovanni Rotondo, or with the taxi you can reach Monte Sant’Angelo in 30 minutes, another place of worship and history (optional). Here you can visit the basilica of San Michele Arcangelo, one of the oldest rock churches in Europe, the tomb of Rotari, the Norman-Swabian castle and the historic center. You can also admire the panorama of the Gargano valley and taste the typical products of the area. After visiting Monte Sant’Angelo, you return to Foggia with the same taxi to take the train to Rome. It is a long day, but it is worth it to discover places rich in spirituality.
