The Origins: Activitaly and Innovation in Digital Tourism
The story of Argiletum Tour begins in 1999 with the founding of Activitaly, an innovative startup in the tourism services sector, made possible through regional funding (BIC Lazio). Activitaly quickly stood out for its pioneering approach, developing advanced digital tools to promote the city of Rome and its cultural heritage.
Digital innovation: the interactive map of Rome
In 2000, Activitaly revolutionized digital tourism with the creation of the first interactive map of Rome, ahead of similar tools like Google Maps by five years. This pioneering project allowed visitors to virtually explore the eternal city through an advanced system linked to a database. Hypertext markers on the map provided access to detailed information sheets on monuments, restaurants, and local activities.

In 2002, Activitaly evolved into Art&Travel Srl, solidifying its vision and expanding its offerings. From this transformation, Argiletum Tour was born, named after the ancient Via Argiletum, famous as the street of booksellers in ancient Rome.
